KEY FASHION TRENDS FOR AUTUMN 09
We thought we'd bring you a round-up of all the key trends emerging from the Autumn 09 catwalks so ladies get ready to strut your stuff, starting with the double-breasted leather jackets which were belted at the waist as seen by Hermes. Ooh ahh, we do like!
Following with the smarter look was a focus on separates. We saw peg and harem pants across the catwalks last season, but autumn has been drilled down into more tailored versions. We also saw a re-emergence of skirts with shapes varying from slim pencil through to minis, belted and bubbles. Interest was created by contrasting fabrics, slashed hemlines and intricate prints.
In stark contrast to this were designers who wanted to visit the wilder side - the 1980's. Making a mark in street wear for a few seasons now, neon colours, oversized shapes and geometric prints are again set to be favourites. Everything from bright colours through to punk and bodycon minis as seen at Versace.
Elsewhere DSquared and Matthew Williamson opted for animal print and it seems the hound tooth design will be back after being seen at Alexander McQueen. Supersize shoulders are also set to be integral for next season and led on well to the futuristic vibe which will also be hot, taking metallic shades into a new direction. Other trends to watch out for include contrast, bandage and paneling. In terms of fabrics, look out for velvet and sheer fabrics. As for colour, black is definitely set to be back!
