Featured in most of the Sex and the City episodes, The Fendi Baguette handbags have become an iconic symbol of luxury and glamour worn by Sarah Jessica Parker on set, and by many celebrities such as Madonna and Julia Roberts.
Over the past 15 years, Fendi designed more than 700 Baguette handbags, in addition to makeover and collaborations by various artists including Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons.
To celebrate this iconic bag, and 15 years of a successful design becoming over the years a symbol for style and fashion, Silvia Fendi is reusing six of her favourites Baguette styles to be launched on June 1st and also devoting a tome for over a 1000 styles created for what has become the first IT Bag.
Few testimonies in the Baguette book, of which the American actress, Sarah Jessica Parker starring as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, speaking about her love for the baguette as the first item to be loaned to the show marking an important event in the success of the series. In fact, SJP reveals to the Financial Times: "Having the Fendi Baguette was a very big deal, and the gateway to everything else," It really opened the floodgates and influenced the storyline - especially Carrie's habit of spending more money on fashion than her home. The Baguette became a staple of Carrie's wardrobe and character… I recently archived both [my original] Baguettes to keep them in pristine condition. Now that I have two daughters, they can each have one."
Another precious fashion item being celebrated with style and if you can’t afford the Baguette, then you should definitely grab the first copy of the Fendi Baguette book, reuniting all styles in one tome out in June 2012!
