SUMMER BRIGHTS

The catwalks for SS12 reflected the weather we’re hoping for this summer: bright! Designers from Alexis Mabille to Mulberry used bright colours to brighten our moods, and these shades certainly aren’t for the shy, from lemon yellows that certainly didn’t leave a sour taste in our mouths here at A-SHU, to hot pinks that made us blush a bit too much! Colour popping has been bringing fun to our catwalks for a few seasons now, but it’s a look that refuses to die down; it’s too bright! Invest in a rainbow of bright colours for your wardrobe this season and you can be sure they’ll always be in trend: who can resist the appeal of a show stopping red dress or a bold blue purse?

Alexis Mabille has become fashion’s new queen of colour following her spring/summer 2012 catwalk which had every colour under the sun, from futuristic orange mini-dresses, to intricate green ball-gowns, complete with a sweeping lace train, and gold detailing. Mabille also showed us fashionistas the right way to clash without creating a colour crash, with hot pink detailing on a rose red blazer. Christian Dior showed the power of red, with a mainly monotone catwalk with occasional flashes of the bright colour, and Mulberry took the trend right down to their accessories with acid yellow coats contrasted with green handbags (even the dogs had matching yellow coats!). The celeb sphere have embraced these sunshine shades with coats, bags and more in all shades of the rainbow. Mischa Barton showed us how to match prints and bold colours by matching her jewel yellow shoes and skirt to the colours on her beetle covered shirt, and Gwen Stefani showed that being a rock chick isn’t all about dark colours and late nights when she stepped out in her bright pink jeans, teamed with a black vest top and black ankle boots, making the look wearable but still having maximum impact. Olivia Palmero stood out in her classic yellow shift dress, but took her outfit from bland to wow with leopard print high heel shoes and a clashing frilly pink clutch bag. Or if you want to take the bright trend to a whole new level, look to Katy Perry and her ever changing hair colours! (however, this will majorly limit your wardrobe choices - you have been warned!).

Mulberry and Olivia Palmero showed that you don’t need to drench yourself head to toe in all the colours of the rainbow to embrace the bright trend! Through accessories, you can stand out without blinding anyone, and a bright bag with always be in vogue! Luckily, we have a brilliant selection of bright accessories to spice up your wardrobe without scaring off the men! For a bag to protect your precious purchases against those spring showers when you’re out shopping this weekend, invest in our Patent Apple Green Shower Proof Tote Bag with Detachable Internal Bag, now reduced to £24.99, or if you’re more of a pretty-in-pink girl, then our Small Vivid Berry Leather Effect Multi-Compartment Handbag with Long Strap is the perfect choice to help you stand out for only £19.99.
