SHHH... LEAVE YOUR SHOES AND BAGS AT THE DOOR!
We still remember when shopping used to be a fun and social experience we loved sharing with friends and sisters. But would you fancy a silent trip?
Selfridges is introducing a whole new shopping experience: we have seen some new ways from online shopping to virtual window-shopping, but a silent one?
In January 2013, the luxury department store will be opening its first silent space where shoppers are asked to leave their shoes and mobile phones at the door experiencing an idea of the founder Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909!
From WWD and according to Selfridges creative director Alannah Weston, the room "invites customers to find a moment of peace in a world where we are bombarded by a cacophony of information and stimulation" The space will also offer meditation sessions providing a relaxing and serene environment; in addition to a Quiet Shop yet to be explored!
So it is back to basics? Or is it part of a new era where shopping is no longer how we know it?
