LACE LOVE: STILL GOING STRONG

Lace is still a big favourite on the catwalks for spring/summer 2012, showing that the pretty material is great for adding special detail to your winter wardrobes, as well as being perfect for hot summer days. The most feminine of fabrics, it’s great for releasing your inner girlie girl (we all have one!) whilst still being alluring and sultry in front of those hot men (black is great for this!). It’s a timeless elegance, so if you invest in lace now, it’s guaranteed to see you through many hot dates, cocktail parties and even those scary meeting-the-other-half’s-parents occasions. While Louis Vuitton showed off his lace in pastel ice cream shades, Oscar de la Renta and Christian Dior proved that lace can still have bite with black and white contrast dresses. Miu Miu used bright coloured lace jackets to complete his catwalk looks, and Alexander McQueen paid homage to Lady Gaga in his spring/summer 2012 collection with a bright red ruffle dress with lace detailing.

So lace isn’t just for the good girls; it’s also a daring look for after dark. To keep it interesting, mix your lace with other fabrics and patterns to tap into the clashing trend. For the celebs, lace dresses are an easy way to ‘get it right’ on the red carpet as they’re classic and timeless. Amongst others, Taylor Swift has proven that white lace isn’t only for brides with a pop of bright red lipstick to complete the look, and as well as choosing lace for the wedding dress of 2011, Kate Middleton wowed in an electric blue dress with lace detailing. Maybe you haven’t got a red carpet to walk down (this week anyway!), but there’s a lace for every occasion, and it’s a great way to tease the boys by showing a little flesh without having everything out.

Lace is the go-to fabric for a first date, no matter the occasion. For drinks and a meal, wow in red lace, with a red lace peplum top to enhance those womanly curves and a leather pencil skirt to keep things classy yet exciting. Finish your look with glossy hair, a slick of eyeliner and a great statement handbag to catch his eye, our Champaign Gold Hard-Back Heart Shaped Clutch Bag is only £11.00 and perfect for matching the romantic feel of your red lace. For a romantic picnic in the park, try a pastel lace dress in the style of Louis Vuitton to look good enough to eat. For extra style points and the ultimate delectability, pair a pastel pink lace dress with pastel accessories, such as our Pastel Green Hermes Birkin Style Lightweight Holdall Handbag With Lock And Key (£19.99) and our new Cream Floral Corsage Wrist Band With Lace And Bead Embellishment for £4.99 to add some more lace to your pretty outfit. For a casual outing to the cinema on a rainy Saturday afternoon, work a white lace top with your favourite skinny jeans and a simple pair of pumps for a cute yet relaxed style that’ll look effortless. Wear a brightly coloured vest top underneath your lace t-shirt for a subtle colour pop, and keep things simple with neutral accessories, such as our Pre-Order Item - Deep Beige Leather Effect Satchel Handbag In The Style of Mulberry Alexa for £29.99.

Lace is spring’s hottest fabric; it’s sweet, sexy and interesting. The designers love it, the celebs love it, and so do we! So keep it fresh with bright colours, clashing patterns and the prettiest, most delicate pattern you can find!
