HYPER-FLORALS: THE NEW WAY TO WEAR YOUR FLOWERS

The florals are back for spring, but this year they’re bigger, bolder and brighter than ever before! Gone are the dainty daisies and the precious pansies, this season hyper-florals have bloomed into fashion on our catwalks to give us an easy way to stand out from the wall-flower this spring and summer. Designers from Diane von Furstenberg to Ashish added some colour to their catwalks with bold, stylised florals, and many models showed us how it’s done with a crazy clash of conflicting prints that made an extra impact for all the right reasons.

To spice up your tired rose garden of pale pinks, lemons and mint greens, add a ‘Club Tropicana’ feel to your wardrobe with exotic flowers in bright greens, vivid oranges and yellows. It’s the most fun you can have with florals without getting your hands dirty, and the celebs certainly don’t have greenfingers, yet look effortlessly chic in their hyper-florals. Jessica Alba adds a tropical touch to her hyper-floral trousers with a bright orange shirt and a contrasting green blazer for a look that’s more ‘Club Tropicana’ than English country club! For a look that would get Gossip Girl’s seal of approval, steal Blair’s style with a clever pairing of an orange and red hyper-floral dress teamed with a bright yellow mac - hopefully you’ll win your own Chuck Bass to whisk you away somewhere warm! However, if you prefer pastures closer to home, look to Zooey Deschannel for inspiration, who looks bloomin’ lovely (sorry for the pun!) in a dress bursting with pink roses, perfect for spring.

The sun has been shining recently, so that makes this the ideal time to try out these hyper-florals. Those sweet flowers of yester-year are on acid for spring/summer 2012, so look for big prints in daring colours - there’s no such thing as ‘too much’ when it comes to hyper-florals. A full length tea dress covered in bright roses is perfect for scones and tea in the garden with your grandparents, whereas a floaty kaftan covered in a tropical print, teamed with white skinny jeans and fashionable flip-flops is great both for killing time at the airport before you jet away and for drinking one too many cocktails at sunset on the beach. Keep your florals to one key piece per outfit – unless you’re brave enough to rock the clashing trend a la Leighton Meister! Crop tops with bold prints are an investment worth making as they’ll help you catch that cute guy’s eye on a night out and look cool at your festival of choice this summer. Here at A-SHU we have a great selection of handbags, accessories and shoes that’ll help you nail the floral trend this spring, so be sure to check them out!

Whether you’re rocking the ‘Club Tropicana’ trend or blooming in bright British roses, hyper-florals are the way to stand out in style this summer, so make sure you invest in some great pieces now!
