HOW TO WORK THAT BOY-GIRL TREND

Spring is an awkward time for fashion, do you wear those shorts or those trousers? Your winter coat has finally retired but now you're asking, do I need a jacket with this outfit? It is a perfect time to work that boy-girl trend with the unpredictable British weather.

To be fashionable you don't always have to be a girly girl. Trousers and a blazer create the perfect boy-girl trend. But if trousers aren't for you, try a skirt or shorts and show off those pins. Alesha Dixon wore a bright blue blazer with a yellow mini skirt last week on This Morning. The colours scream summer, even if the weather isn't and it's a perfect trans-season outfit. Caroline Flack and Lauren Goodger were also spotted this week wearing their blazers.

ELLE see a jacket in the spring is key to trans-seasonal dressing and it's completely up to you how you wear it. A bright jacket can give an old outfit a complete new make over and is a great replacement of that winter coat.

Like Alesha, brighten your outfit so you don't feel too much like a guy in your blazer. Add a statement handbag to give your outfit a bit of colour and feel more like a girl. We have plenty of handbags but my favourite for just £23.99 is the Green Ostrich Effect Holdall. The ostrich effect is very classy and the style looks so similar to Hermes Birkin bags – but at such a stealer price which won't break the bank!
