AW 2012 TREND GUIDE - PURITY, PEPLUMS AND PURPLE
With the current weather AW12 is looking rather close and instead of thinking about non-existent tans and the rainfall, lets think about what we’ll be wearing in Autumn and Winter! (YAY!)
1) Purity V Leather: Although they seem like opposite ends of the scale these two trends compliment each other very well. Stripped back, simple clothing was all over the catwalks. For their final shows Raf Simons and Stefano Pilati had nothing to prove and paired plain colours with leather. Nothing too over-powering for AW12!
2) Peplums: In true Victoria Beckham style peplums, often seen on pencil skirts or blazers, are back! Synching in the waist and adding a little edge and aesthetics to a simple outfit is the perfect way to introduce a little bit of fashion into, possibly boring, work outfits.
3) Purple: Noticed a trend? It’s all about the three P’s, Purity, Peplums and purple. Making itself the colour of the season it was seen across all catwalk shows from Christopher Kane (who even had a lavender catwalk carpet) to Gucci. Wearing a chunky knit purple jumper or a purple detailed dress, a purple haze was well and truly over fashion week! (The amount of purples in that sentence show how big a trend it actually is!)
4) Boyish shapes and of course, shoulders: Every year the shoulder pads are out with force and this year more than ever. Exaggerated proportions and sculptured figures were sported at Stella McCartney but this year it’s a little more complicated than stealing a boyfriends blazer!
Aw12 is a season where minimalism will be a statement!
