SPRING 2012: HAIR TRENDS

Outfit: Check! Make-up: Check! Hair: UH-OH! We’ve got the outfits nailed but what are we supposed to do with our hair to complete the look this season!? It seems fashion and beauty remains consistent for S/S2012 as it’s very much a ’roll out of bed and stick your hair up’ kind of job! (Well, that’s what it looks like… it actually takes a few hours of grooming those wild locks!)

First on the list is the fishtail plait. Sophisticated braids and twists are a hit with celebs and on the catwalk this season. The effortlessly chic look is perfect for spring and summer, and can be easily transferable from day to night! And apparently, it’s easy to do! Check out Kendall Jenner’s fishtail plait being rocked on the red carpet. Don’t worry, if you’re not a dab-hand with ye olde hairbrush… a normal plait will do!

If you don’t want your hair up then soft, urban waves are the way forward. Hair with laid back body and beachy waves were certainly a hit with the likes of Calvin Klein and Givenchy. It may not seem a lot but the barely there curls are easy to achieve, try using a salt-spray, and are bang-on trend this season!

There are some hairstyles that may require a little more primping. Following fashion, the minimalist approach has made its way onto our heads! Super Sleek hair, preferably in high ponytails, were sported by models at Donna Karen and Marc Jacobs, but did the slick look ever really go out of fashion?!

One trend that seemed to be cropping up everywhere was ‘glistening hair’ or in everyday terms, ‘wet hair’. Whether it’s damp at the roots or  the’ just got out of the shower’ look, designers from Diesel to BCBG were going for it. So, if you ever run out of time in the morning then wet hair is now officially acceptable!
