MEN, NO EXCUSES, ITS TIME TO DRESS UP!
Runway shows have been at the heart of the fashion world for centuries; yet, they have always been involved in the display of designs for women. Now, for the first time, London is hosting its own week of men’s catwalk shows, which kicked off with a reception held at the St. James’s Palace by royal Prince Charles himself.
The event will be held over three days, during which a total of 54 shows will be organised and twenty-one countries will be sending representatives to purchase and assess London menswear. Among the designers to be showcased is Christopher Raeburn, who won the emerging talent in menswear award at the previous British Fashion Awards, and three new names featured by Topman’s infamous Lulu Kennedy of Fashion East - Shaun Samson, who has sought his inspiration for 2013 from automobile designs, Agi & Sam, who will present a jovial collection of prints and colours, and Astrid Andersen, who prefers a more sporty style for her designs. Other noted names in the world of womenswear, such as Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders, are also taking this opportunity to create and display their own lines for men.
Overall, what is to be expected during these three days of fashion frenzy? Well, word on the street is that there will be much energy, colour and original prints, big names, luxurious parties, and of course, lots of dancing. So, boys, this is your chance to party and learn the secrets of the male fashion world. Girls, use this as an excuse to spot trends for your man - on the plus side, need I mention male models?
